Round 8 vs Centrals at Elizabeth
Postby TheGedemondan » Fri Jun 02, 2023 5:54 pm
Taheny and Jarvis out through injury.
Potential Ins:
Jake Cresswell, Cory Stockdale, Izaak Twelftree, Thomas Graham, Luke Bogle and Liam Robinson
Would be an SANFL debut for Twelftree is selected and Jake Cresswell's first game for Norwood if he is picked.

Hope Taheny’s injury isn’t as bad as it looked last Friday night. Much deserved promotion for Graham, expect that he will play and good to have Stockdale back.

I'd just like to see something different this week, some positional changes, a differnt game plan, structure, anything becuase what we've being doing so far hasn't worked.

Looks not a bad side on paper.
Lets hope Surman plays and the two very good reserves players in Robinson and Graham also play and give them a chance to adapt to the higher grade. Stockade is also a very good defender coming back from a bad injury.
Wonder where Binder is as he always gives 100%.
We may be suited to the bigger oval but cannot play short chipping football as Centrals will just wait for our mistakes.
Soon we must play a decent brand as we have some very good players who are excellent kicks who should just take the opposition on.
I believe we try each week but lets hope we can put all our good attributes together tomorrow.
A few new names in the Reserves tomorrow so watch with interest.

Outs of the squad: Graham, Bogle, Robinson, Twelftree.
Still scared of trying anyone who may be able to kick a goal.

I was slightly more positive about Rawlings this week - the squad had players selected after good form in the reserves.
But to not replace Taheny and Jarvis with at least one of Graham or Robinson seems so foolish on Elizabeth Oval.
Jake Cresswell gets his first game for Norwood. He played 2 for South Adelaide (for 1 goal) last year.

Just woke up and switched game on. Saw last 10 mins of 3rd qtr. I don’t think we had a possession forward of centre, and central kicked 3 goals. Looks like I just missed a 4th. That was probably the worst 10mins of footy I’ve ever seen. Zero confidence, totally not able to hit a target by hand or foot, players seemed clueless what to do.
Lucky for those at the game seems it’s not all been like that. Hoping for a revival after the break.

I must have blinked and missed it. When did Central District sprint past Norwood as a football club?
0-4 again today, the Reserves, U18s and U16s all THRASHED. All up, Norwood kicked 27 goals, Central 58. Pathetic is not a strong enough word to summarize Norwood right now.
Well, we did it. Worst start to a season in our 146-year history, and it only took 7 minutes from Central to inflict yet another loss upon us. Connor McLean, sorry mate, but 1-4 just isn't good enough, especially against your old team. It's cowboy stuff.
Not sure where to go from here. Looking at the program, maybe we could fluke a win in round 16 against South at the Parade, but only if we play at our best. Failing that, we could be in for a winless season.
I anticipate a massive cleanout at the end of the season, on and off the ground. It's back to the drawing board.
Will watch the FA Cup tonight in a hope to see some FKN Goals!!!!

There were players selected today who have been seriously out of form for weeks and some of them are premiership players. And yet no real changes are made, it’s mind boggling. In 45 y ears of following the club I’ve never felt more despondent. Agree with AH about the clean out but why wait until the end of the season, the damage to the club which is being done right now might be irreparable.

I believe that a failure to act this week may be highly problematic for some board members and for the CEO later in the year.
Rawlings has to go.
Tim Weatherald? Robbie Neill? Richard Douglas?

Just quietly, this was Matty Nunn's 100th senior game for Norwood. The club keeps forgetting to add the Fox-Tel Cup match he played against East Perth in 2014.

Woke up this morning to check the scores and naturally hoping to see a win, but unfortunately it was all too predictable.
Another low scoring game where we fail to kick 10 goals and lose by less than 10 points.
We've gone past any hope of making finals, disgracefully it's now a question of whether we can avoid the spoon!
To be optimistic, the next two matches are winnable.
After that it looks fairly bleak.
Obviously we're still in the need of a winner up forward and with Callow still out of action, perhaps Pascoe is worth a call up after kicking half the reserves goals today?
